IMPORTANT NOTICE

Bellamy’s wishes to advise our customers that some batches of our Brown Rice Pasta Stars have been found to contain arsenic at levels exceeding the limit approved by the Singapore Food Agency. The affected batches are BB 09/09/21 and 10/09/21. However, as a precautionary measure, we would like to recall all batches of the Brown Rice Pasta Stars.

Our number one priority is the health and safety of your little ones. Customers who are concerned about the health of their children should seek medical advice.

If you have purchased any of our Brown Rice Pasta Stars, kindly submit your request to us here to organise a full refund upon return of the product.

Arsenic is found in the environment and originates from both natural occurrence and human activities. Low levels of inorganic arsenic in foods may be unavoidable due to its ubiquitous nature in the modern industrial world, there are two types of arsenic: organic and inorganic (these are scientific uses of the word organic not food production). Arsenic can exist in many different chemical forms in combination with other elements. Some forms are inorganic which do not contain carbon and others are organic which always contain carbon. Arsenic and its compounds occur naturally in the earth’s crust in ores and minerals.

Many foods samples testing, including organic foods, contain inorganic arsenic- but not in amounts sufficient to pose serious threats to health. FSANZ – the principle authority for determining safety in all foods in Australia- defines the maximum amount of arsenic allowed in food products to be up to 1mg/kg for all forms of arsenic. The presence of a maximum level allowable indicates that after rigorous scientific assessment by FSANZ, small or trace amounts of arsenic are not deemed to be harmful.

Being certified organic, our ingredients are firstly not produced with any synthetic inputs such as pesticides which may contain arsenic. Secondly, as part of our quality control and as per the guidelines for organic food certification, we regularly test our ingredients and products for contaminants and natural toxicants including arsenic. The levels of arsenic found in our products fall well below the maximum levels stated in the FSANZ standards.

We want to reassure you that the rest of the product range are not affected. All our products undergo testing to ensure that they meet the stringent food safety and quality requirements and we do not release any product until all these tests have satisfactorily met these requirements of international standards. Our products are also rigorously tested to comply with the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards (FSANZ) Code.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Should you have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to write in to us at hello@bellamysorganic.com.sg and our team will do our best to assist you.

Your sincerely,
Bellamy’s Organic
