Bellamys Organic Mindful Eating Helps Set Healthier Life Goals

Healthy ingredients on table. Morning time.

The reality is we all have a choice to live a healthier life by taking a few steps to consciously improve our health and wellbeing – the hardest thing is often making the commitment to change.

I believe the first step is taking responsibility for what you do to yourself.  Being mindful about what you eat, how much you exercise and what you can do to relax your mind.  All can improve your overall health and outlook on life.

For me, each year I visit a “Health Retreat” and have done so for the past 7 years.

Ok, yes it’s expensive, yes I pay to be woken by a gong at 5.30am and yes I have to eat really healthy food and drink lots of water whilst exercising all day with no access to alcohol or coffee – at all!  Some think I’m mad and I often hear “You pay for this!”  However no matter how hard it seems, I believe you cannot put a price on your health.

Every year this experience makes me feel amazing and what’s even better is that I’m learning lifelong skills that I can teach to others who may not be fortunate enough to experience such a magical place.

A typical day at my Health Retreat starts with a beautiful practise of tai-chi, then a refreshing walk through the most incredible rain forest.  Then the best bit, returning to a full buffet breakfast of fresh fruit, homemade porridge, stewed apple and freshly laid organic eggs presented on home baked organic sourdough.  Once breakfast is complete we are given a sheet on the daily activities and it normally would go something like this –

9am Stretch class/breathing techniques

10am Yoga/meditation

11am Health seminar

1pm Organic food for lunch (an amazing array of salads and other delicacies)

2pm Do as you wish – Day spa!!

Then it’s your own time to work out in the gym, indulge in an amazing treatment at the spa, have a swim, hit of tennis, horse riding or curl up in a day bed amongst the beautiful surroundings and read that book you have been meaning to for a long time!

When I leave I feel completely re-energised, enthusiastic and full of energy – friends and colleagues say it’s contagious upon my return!

Every day I am mindful about what I eat.  I think about how I can move my body and how I can create a more peaceful life for myself.  It balances out my busy work life.

Three things I can pass on to you to help you lead a healthier life are –

  1. Mindful eating is about doing all you can to consume the best produce possible to heal your body and mind
  2. Take time every day to exercise
  3. Everyday breathe deeply to help you relax especially at night before bed

Think about how you want to feel, think about how much joy you will feel passing these simple steps on to your children, which in itself is motivation.  By teaching your children these three simple steps it will help them make choices in life to be healthy and happy… and that is a beautiful thing.

One great way to start is by introducing your children to Bellamy’s Organic to give them a pure start to life.
