Best Hints, Tips & FAQs!

Following on from last week’s video clip, How to Prepare Bellamy’s Organic Infant Formula, I’m sharing some Formula Hints & Tips with you on getting the best from our formula products and answering some questions we’re frequently asked by our customers.

What if I don’t use a whole tin within 4 weeks of opening it?

If your baby is solely formula fed, one tin of our formulas should last approximately 1 week.  But may last longer or less time depending on just how hungry your baby is.

But what if I’m breast feeding and supplementing with formula and I may not use a whole tin within 4 weeks of opening, I here you ask… Well then, you’ll be happy to know that our formula can be frozen for up to 3 months – in powder form, not made-up. Have a look at this video clip to find out how to freeze our formula correctly.

Can I take made up formula out with me?

No, you can’t.  If you’re going out for the day and you want to feed your baby formula while you’re out, you need to take the milk powder and water separately. Don’t take made up formula. Find out why and how to prepare formula on the go in this video clip.

My baby’s poos have changed colour, is this normal?

In short, yes.  Any changes in diet will cause changes at the other end, just like adults.  Babies that are transitioning from breast milk to formula will show changes in the frequency and colour of their poos.  I’ll tell you why in this video clip.

We hope you find this video useful. If you have any questions please call us on 1800 010 460, visit our website or speak with your health professional. Or feel free to ask any questions in the comments section below.

In next week’s video clip, I’ll be talking about baby’s First Solid Food: Baby Rice.

Important Notice

Thanks for reading our blog. We hope you found this information interesting.

•The World Health Organisation recommends that breastfeeding is best for your baby.

•Having a balanced diet when breastfeeding is also important. Baby formulas should only be used after you’ve sought advice from a doctor or health practitioner.

•A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse and introducing partial bottle feeding will reduce the supply of breast milk. It is also wise to consider the cost of infant formula.

•If you use infant formula, all preparation and feeding instructions must be followed as per the manufacturer’s instructions. This is important for your baby’s health.

Important Notice to Parents and Guardians

  • Breast milk is the best for babies. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.
